As I walked up the riverway, I spotted a small encampment made up of trailers and campers. An old man with dark glasses stood atop a ladder stapling black sheets and blankets over the west-facing windows of the main trailer. My feet scuffled through the gravel and alerted him to my approach. He came down off the ladder to speak to me.
'What's up?'
'Howdy.'
'Just out for a stroll?'
'Taking pictures of the river.'
'That ain't a river -- it's a sewage treatment system that runs from Utah Lake to the Great Salt Lake.'
